Fillllmmsssss

I have decided to do this blog as I am a massive film buff and I'm forever looking for a new movie that will make me excited, scared, happy, sad, cry or laugh.
Films have taken a massive hold of everyones lives and i have began to notice that certain film reviewers are talking complete Bull when it comes to films, (of course everyone is intitled to their own opinion) So i have decided to do my own reviews.
I will start off by mentioning just a handful of my fav films and why and then every week i shall up date with a new film :) hope you enjoy ..... :)

Shutter Island

Very good, yet very odd.
Directed by Martin Scorsese, would you expect anything less than a very freaky physiological thriller?? The film is set post second world war and follows a U.S Marshall Teddy Daniels ((Leonardo Dicaprio)) and his partner Chuck ((Mark Ruffalo)) Who go to shutter island, a place for the critically insane, to investigate the disappearance of one of the in mates. It becomes obvious early on that there is something not right with this island as the inmate is said to have "disappeared through the walls" nobody is really talking or helping the investigation along so teddy and chuck decide they are going to leave. Unfortunately a vicious storm occurs, leaving the pair trapped on the island. As the rest of the film contains many twists and turns (including some very freaky and recurring nightmares from ted) I will not go into the plot so much, so as not to spoil it for you. The film has you changing your mind constantly about what is really going on as everything just doesn't seem to add up. I found the end very entertaining and really enjoyed the idea of the film. I do feel however this film will have the marmite affect, and if you are not into to disturbing thrillers, i would probably give it a miss.

Zombieland

Now, ever since i remember i have always had an irrational fear of zombies! Nothing else has ever been able to bother me the way a manic human running round trying to eat you can. However i like being scared and seeing as though this is a comedy about zombies...i thought why not check it out.
The films stars Woody Harrelson who plays an hilarious redneck who realises that what he is best at is killing zombies. Alongside him tags the geeky Jesse Eisenberg who has come up with a survival list that has enabled him so far to stay free from the jaws of the zombies. The eye candy is supplied by emma stone ((superbad)) who plays a very inventive con artist. The unlikely set of people join together against the odds to find a place where zombies are not, no names are exchanged as it is too "personal". There is an hilarious cameo role by Bill Murray ((Ghostbusters)) alongside Harrelson's complete addiction to getting a twinky, this film made me giggle and forget about my horror of Zombies. The end scene however does become like the usual horror Zombie film and had me cringing most of the time. The laughs, though, highly out number the horror moments. The script is fantastically witty, a real must see :)

DayBreakers

Verdict: not all that great!!
So with the many, many, many films based around vampires at the minute i was delighted to hear that this one had a slight twist to it. The premise was intriguingly different with it being set in a parallel world where vampires are the majority and losing their food source....humans. However the main plot failed to keep me entertained. The main vampire dude is just trying to be a human and ends up befriending other humans who help him to try and do so. The whole "human farming" thing is barely addressed and also...a majorly bad thing i found was that the vampires weren't that threatening. they weren't faster, or that much stronger.... the only thing that set them apart was that they fed on humans. This i personally thought was a major no no when vampire films at the moment are being so successful! why take away from them their strengths and make them so vulnerable??? If it wasn't for their massive numbers i would not believe them to be able to extinguish the human race. during the last ten minutes there is a bit of a gore fest but unfortuntley it comes far too late in the film to save it from the boring hour or so you have just endured... i thought it was terrible!!!
